Grants for activities at the Faculty of Science that support events or processes in Switzerland that address equal
opportunity challenges with up to 5’000 CHF.
Examples of possible activities include:
1. Organization of workshops and courses on topics related to equal opportunity measures, such as mitigating
unconscious bias, or ensuring equal opportunity during hiring and promotion.
2. Organization of equal opportunity-oriented extensions of existing events, such as a equality oriented career
lunch in the context of a scientist visit of an invited speaker.
3. Support of hiring processes in individual institutes, such as hiring of an external equal opportunity expert
that consults hiring commissions in the planning new Faculty hire processes.
4. Outreach activities outside of the University of Bern, e.g. school projects, that aim to increase equal
opportunities, such as school projects that foster STEM activities of underprivileged children or those that
are naturally less exposed to the opportunities of an education in STEM.
Who can apply for this fund?
All employees of the Faculty of Science, including staff, PhD Students, post-doctoral researchers, and professors.

• a description of how the activity will fosters equal opportunities
• a budget plan
